Team Overview:

We are seeking an AI Engineering Manager to lead our LLM Safety team, which sits in the critical path of ensuring AI Safety of all LinkedIn’s GenAI product launches.

This role is ideal for a visionary leader passionate about leveraging AI to empower millions while ensuring safety and trust in GenAI products.

Location:

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

This role will be based in Sunnyvale, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Stay at the forefront of AI safety advancements, influencing the company’s thought leadership in Responsible AI and LLM Safety.Lead and inspire a team of talented AI research engineers, in partnership with a strong Tech Lead.Drive the strategy, research, and development of innovative solutions to assess and manage the safety and reliability of all GenAI products.Define and execute a robust roadmap for LLM safety, addressing challenges in fairness, bias mitigation, hallucinations, and robustness.Work with internal and external vendors for high quality and scaled data labeling needs.Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Legal, and Policy teams to drive LinkedIn’s safety standards and compliance against them.Enhance LinkedIn’s GenAI platform to provide scaled and easy to use capabilities to perform red-teaming of GenAI products. Partner with the governance team to provide a smooth experience for model developers.Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence.Manage team growth, career development, and performance to build a high-performing, engaged team.

Basic Qualifications:

1+ year(s) of management experience leading a AI/ML engineering team, or 1+ year(s) of Staff level AI/ML engineering experience with management training5+ years of related industry experience in Machine Learning, development, and algorithm related solutionsBA/BS in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical technical experienceHands on experience in data modeling and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ year proven experience leading high-performing AI or ML teams in fast-paced environments.8+ years of overall professional experience. Demonstrated expertise in LLMs, agentic systems, GenAI, and AI safety challenges.MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics or related fieldsExceptional strategic thinking, technical communication, and people leadership skills.

Compensation Disclosure:

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $164,000-$268,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
