PACCAR Powertrain Simulation Engineer in Mount Vernon, Washington
Job Title: Powertrain Simulation Engineer
Job Duties: Perform mechanical engineering duties in planning and designing simulation tools for development of electrified powertrain systems and engines. Simulate and evaluate advanced heavy-duty vehicle powertrain concepts. Develop and correlate 1-D simulations of vehicles with electrified powertrains. Optimize electrified powertrain designs. Optimize vehicle energy management strategies. Develop and correlate 1-D engine simulations. Optimize engine mechanics, flows, and performance. Communicate results and recommendations to team and stakeholders on a regular basis. Cooperate with cross-divisional counterparts. Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methods. Work with the team to facilitate technology transfer to relevant company divisions.
Job Requirements: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics or related field or the foreign degree equivalent and 7 years of experience in 1-D simulation for heavy duty vehicle systems in the automotive industry. This must include at least 3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Powertrain simulation and testing;
- Powertrain controls;
- Simulation of diesel engines;
- Using 1-D simulation tools, including GT-Power or AVL Cruise;
- Correlating 1-D models with experimental data;
- Mathworks Simulink modeling and co-simulation with other 1-D packages;
- Utilizing design optimization tools, including Mathworks Model-Based Calibration Toolbox;
- Turbocharger matching for air management system optimization; and
Preparing and delivering presentations on results and recommendations to senior-level management across divisions.
Experience may be gained concurrently.
SALARY: $112,091 to $151,300. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. LOCATION: Position full-time, 40 hours per week, with PACCAR Inc located in Mt. Vernon, WA. Telecommuting permitted up to 20%.
