Livingston County Personnel Emergency Medical Technician in Mount Morris, New York

Livingston County announces a vacancy for the following position: Emergency Medical Technician. Interested qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Bargaining unit: CSEA FT Rate of pay $15.40 (Current County employees working within this bargaining unit may receive a different rate of pay based upon the promotion or demotion rate calculation provided by their collective bargaining agreement, if applicable.) Department: Emergency Medical Services Location: Mt Morris, NY DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a New York State certified emergency responder capable of effectively delivering basic emergency care and treatment in varied, sometimes physically demanding situations to those who are sick or injured. The EMT makes definitive patient care decisions under stressful situations, as well as effectively directing, or working with, others at the emergency scene. Work is performed in the office and in the field. The work is performed under the clinical supervision of the assigned supervisor and administrative supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Director. An Emergency Medical Technician does related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet all requirements described in the following in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment: Training/Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. License/Certification: Possession of a current New York State Department of Health certification as an EMT; AND Possession of a valid New York State drivers license. Other requirements: See Special Qualifications below. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1.) Appointee must possess a current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification at appointment. 2.) Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance). 3.) Appropriate certifications and licensure must be maintained in good standing throughout employment. 4.) An appropriate drivers license must be maintained throughout employment. 5.) A driving record evidencing safe and responsible vehicle operation is required. 6.) Must authorize and execute any necessary releases to enable the appointing authority to verify licensure and driving history involving violations and/or crimes. 7.) Meet the Qualifications and Competencies set forth in the EMT-B/AEMT Functional Position Description by the NYS Department of Health.
