Safety Net Counseling Services Mobile Therapist in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania

Mobile Therapist (Master's Level Position)

A master's level mental health professional. This individual will have a minimum of one year of clinical experience with children/adolescents and will provide individual and family therapy as well as treatment recommendation, and review treatment plans for children/adolescents receiving Mobile Therapy services. This position will provide services on-site when requested and will be available for consultation with the school.

A Mobile Therapist will be available to travel to the school or community or home. Each Mobile Therapist will maintain a schedule for children to be seen and will address emergency situations as requested. The school district will continue to utilize the county MH/MR Program's identified system for emergency services for those situations which are clearly within the realm of necessity, and the Mobile Therapist will not be used to supplement the necessary crises services. The Mobile therapist will assist the school in identifying when these situation are present, should the school request assistance.

Utilizing the above approach, the Mobile Therapist will be emphasizing the individual child/adolescent's positive behaviors and strengths by developing a treatment plan that will enable them to be maintained in the regular classroom with peers and will be providing the necessary treatment as will as providing support and consultation to the family unit. Children will receive individual mobile therapy sessions at those hours when the child is in need of therapeutic intervention either in the school setting or in the home setting.

Mobile Therapy Services will also be provided to the adolescents at the high school level on and individual basis and at the request of the school (with school permission), parents, or at the request of the referring outside agency. The school's social worker, psychologist or guidance counselor through their identified internal system of referral will identify students. Students will be seen on a weekly basis as prescribed by the licensed psychologist or psychiatrist and will have an individualizes treatment plan developed based on their identified needs through the process described above.

In order to meet the various needs of each child, the Mobile Therapist will utilize and eclectic approach including but not limited to: individual therapy, Family therapy, Reality Therapy, and Behavioral Modification. Psycho-educational approaches will be utilized to address at a minimum the following; Self-esteem, Peer Relationships, Family Issues, Depression/Suicide, Stress Management, Coping Skills, Anger Management and Control Issues.
