Description

This position is responsible for understanding the medium and long-term needs of Caterpillar products, and developing a portfolio of new materials technologies to meet those needs. They will prioritize the portfolio to deliver the greatest value to the enterprise. They must have a broad materials background and proven ability to manage innovation. They must have experience in competencies such as steels, heat treatment, castings, high-temp materials, thermal spray, laser cladding, tribology, nondestructive evaluation, electromagnetics, plating, and mechanical testing. This leader will possess a high level of accountability, strong communication skills, deep and broad expertise in materials technology, and a demonstrated passion for innovation.

Job Duties

Team leadership of all technology development and transfer

AMT Technology Development Portfolio management

Coordinating internal and external communication

Setting and meeting annual Technology Demonstration targets

Leading innovation, including hands-on critical or complex projects

Partnering with internal business units to create technology development plans

Recognizing and protecting intellectual property

Supporting applicable enterprise, segment, ICS, and divisional goals

Basic Qualifications

4-yr materials engineering degree or equivalent

6 years minimum experience in a materials engineering discipline

Experience with steels, high-temp materials, heat treatment, and coatings

Leadership experience

Top Candidates will also have

Advanced materials engineering degree

Experience working in a service organization

Experience managing innovation

Additional Information

The location for this position is Mossville, IL

Relocation assistance available for this position.

This position may require 10% travel
