Description

Integrated Components and Solutions division with Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional.

This position supports the Vice President of Innovation and Emerging Technology, an organization that serves the enterprise in developing new technologies, tools and processes. This organization encompasses areas such as manufacturing technology, materials science, the Innovation Center of Excellence and technical university relationships. This role will work closely with the ICS division communications manager and be part of a supportive and collaborative team, creating communications content and participating in the planning and execution of communications within the organization.

In this role, you’ll develop and manage messaging around Caterpillar’s newest technologies; create communications plans, strategies, and presentations; plan and execute all-employee meetings; and help communicate annual internal technology summits. You will also manage content on the internal facing engineering.cat.com and own the process for ICS external communications requests.

This role also assists in the communications needs of the Senior Technology Leader Forum, a team of senior technical leaders in the company responsible for harmonized product, technology and solution strategies. Deliverables include a quarterly Town Hall meeting and technology messaging.

Job Duties

  • Developing and executing communication strategies that drive collaboration, understanding and excitement in our technologies and solutions.

  • Acting as an advisor or consultant to senior management on communications and change management initiatives.

  • Preparing executive presentations, speeches and other materials, for internal and external audiences.

  • Managing external communications requests.

  • Embracing technology to find new and creative ways to reach key audiences.

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and advising on the suitability of approaches for communication efforts.

  • Tracking and analyzing metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communications.

  • Creating content for employee communication channels; ensuring that messaging and branding are consistent.

  • Developing and distributing communications materials, such as written communications, presentation materials, etc. to deliver key messages.

• Evaluates key factors for developing local and cross-functional communications.

• Organizes and coordinates internal communication functions and meetings.

• Trains others on publishing an internal newsletter or periodical.

• Advises on the design and development of internal publications and events.

• Compares and contrasts the benefits and drawbacks of different types of internal communications.

Basic Qualifications

  • College or university degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field

  • 8+ years of job-related experience in corporate communications

  • Ability to manage priorities with competing deadlines.

  • Excellent listening, verbal, and communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong writing and content creation skills.

  • A sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task and self-direct.

  • Ability to collaborate successfully across a matrix organization.

  • Familiarity with Caterpillar functional areas, policies and procedures.

Additional Information

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position will require less than 10% travel.
