job summary:

A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components, with a focus on power electronics and collaboration across teams.

location: Mossville, Illinois

salary: $33.67 - 47.14 per hour

work hours: 8am to 4pm

education: Associates

responsibilities:

  • Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.

  • Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess time and cost feasibility.

  • Investigate equipment failures and issues to diagnose problems and recommend solutions to maintenance crews.

  • Assist drafters in developing structural designs using tools, equipment, or software.

  • Work with power conversion application engineering groups to establish application architecture and electrical requirements for power electronics components/systems.

  • Collaborate with MBDs on NPI (New Product Introduction) and NTI (New Technology Introduction) machine/product programs.

  • Develop design concepts and 3D models for low voltage power electronics inverter and converter systems.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in making sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations; reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics; using CAD software.

  • Creativity, verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, teamwork.

  • Product development experience (design/analysis).

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in a related field plus minimum 10 years of experience, or

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) plus 5+ years of experience, or

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 2+ years of experience.
