Xylem IT Finance and Business Analyst Intern in Morrisville, North Carolina

The Role: Xylem seeks to hire an IT project analyst intern who is a junior or higher in an undergraduate or graduate program that focuses on accounting, finance, or business. This role is year-round and will have the ability to work up to twenty (20) hours per week. This role is only available to candidates in the U.S., in the eastern, central or mountain time zones. Hours are flexible Monday-Friday and can vary from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm depending on class schedules.

The ideal candidate has interests in working with management and engineers on projects, tools, and software, providing reports and project management to facilitate requirements for Xylem’s digital applications utilized by customers around the world. This role would work with a variety of teams to report on costs, provide and maintain budgetary details and work with project managers to help teams implement projects. This role would report to management in the Global Cloud Infrastructure team here at Xylem and provide exposure to a large variety of tools and job functions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing a variety of tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, and a variety of additional technologies, provide reports to leadership to effectively show progress on projects.

  • Work with management to provide reports and projections on labor costs and resource management.

  • Work with management and engineers to maintain budget related data including projects for budget requirements for the future.

  • Ensure data integrity in Excel and Jira as needed for project managers and engineers.

  • Distribute reports to internal stakeholders and update based on feedback.

  • Document, address, and resolve any end-to-end process related issues.

  • Utilize agile concepts for project management.

  • Work with leadership and peers to associate labor and software costs with internal applications and teams.

  • Work with leadership and peers to gather and organize quotes from external vendors.

  • Assist with procedures related to accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a junior or higher in an undergraduate program.

  • Must be local to the Raleigh or Boise area.

  • Experience using common Microsoft Office tools to review, create and update documentation, reports, and diagrams.

  • Willingness to learn new concepts, tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred candidates are in programs related to Finance, Accounting or Business.

  • Preferred candidates have a high-level knowledge of public cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.

  • Preferred candidates are in the Raleigh, North Carolina or Boise, Idaho metropolitan areas.

  • Preferred candidates have in-depth knowledge of Excel including widely used formulas.

Work Environment

  • This is a fully remote position. If candidate is local to the Boise, Idaho or Raleigh, North Carolina offices, there are potential office meetings that the candidate will be asked to join onsite.

  • Candidate will be expected to use Zoom, Teams or comparable technologies to join meetings and calls including video and screen sharing of documents.

The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. The average hourly rate for an intern is between $21.00 - $27.00/hour. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote.
