[SCOO]About the Opportunity This position is remote but will require travel for business purposes to FirstEnergy facilities across the FirstEnergy Operational footprint. The Operations Support Quality Assurance Specialist II will work in both Agile and Waterfall environments to develop and execute manual test scripts for internal solutions. The focus will be on the creation and execution of testing strategies for new and existing Work Management and Field Mobility applications. This position will work closely with a Product Owner, peer QA Tester(s), FE IT, Digital Factory and other subject matter experts to prepare and execute tests across multiple systems and applications.Core Competency Level: * Employee is progressing toward achieving competency in their respective disciplines. * They are growing in knowledge and skills of the tools, applications and business processes needed to complete assigned work. They can exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments but may still seek guidance and support from management or peers. * They are building relationships and credibility, and aiding peers, management and higher levels of professionals as needed. * Continues to seek learning opportunities to better understand tools, applications and procedures/processes to better help them complete assignments. * The major accountabilities to support Operations include: * Executes unit, integration, lifecycle, user acceptance, performance, and regression tests. * Assists in developing test scripts, input test data, and expected results for tests. * Develops, updates, and maintains testing standards and procedures. * Executes test scripts. * Ensures every feature developed by the team is tested with a blend of manual and/or automated testing. * Provides the team with detailed information on defects found and helps the Product Owner prioritize defects. * Knows the Product vision and works closely with the designers and Product Owner to translate their vision into tests. * Acts as a quality champion and empowers teams to create highly performant and secure systems. * Tries all paths and edge cases in performance/security testing to create a highly resilient system. * Contributes to story authoring and refinement, including acceptance criteria, definition of done, and possible edge cases. * Partners with developers and automation engineers to leverage combination of automated/ manual testing to efficiently cover the system's functionality without compromising quality. * Comfortable working in a constantly changing work environment and fully dedicated to a testing "automation philosophy" aimed at automating as many tests as possible. * Growing knowledge of systems and applications that are integrated with assigned application to understand impacts and dependencies. * Actively participating in a collaborative work environment. * Supporting FE Operations during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various FirstEnergy locations The ideal candidate has a technical mindset and is open to learning about operations. Qualifications: * A bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or another related field.
