On-Site Safety Representative

This position provides overall assistance to the project supervision and employees to improve the safety performance of the company. Provides guidance and accountability to the project level Supervision and assists with improving the overall safety knowledge and commitment of the company workforce

Duties/Responsibilities

• Maintain project level training documentation and verification of training for employees on site

• Maintain project level job site orientation and update as needed

• Ensure all employees on site have received job site specific orientation(s) and file documentation Conduct jobsite preparation checklist when a new job is started, every year(if jobs is longer than one year) and each time assigned to a new job

• On Mine sites conduct MSHA site preparation checklist when a new job is started and each time assigned to a new job(Surface or Underground)

• Conduct daily crew assessments and provide documentation(Currently Procore)

• Conduct monthly site audits and provide documentation(Currently Procore)

• On mine sites conduct MSHA Quarterly checklist each quarter of the year(MSHA sites only)

• Provide safety related guidance and assistance to all Foreman, Field Engineers and Superintendents.

• Ensure leading indicators trends are managed and shared with Project level management and crews for the jobsite and company wide

• Conduct documented weekly safety meetings for the project assigned. Weekly meetings are to follow a set agenda and be documented in a consistent manner. (Currently ProCore)

• Ensure that weekly safety meeting agenda are sent out prior to each meeting(Currently Procore)

• Ensure that weekly safety meeting minutes are kept and distributed after each meeting(Currently Procore)

• Ensure the jobsite bulletin boards, site preparation checklists and posters are current with applicable requirements

• Ensure that crane inspections are performed and documented at required intervals to include but not be limited to annually and upon each setup

• Ensure that adequate security measures are employed at the project facility and are being followed

• Ensure all safety related incidents are reported and incident reports are filled out according to the Safety Manual

• Assist Safety Management with incident investigation, reporting and follow up training

• Assist Safety Management in coordinating with local government enforcement agencies when necessary for project set up and investigations

• Coordinate monthly supervisors training and provisions set up to conduct training on site when required

• Assist with drug testing per company polices

• Attend project meetings as required to support Project Managers and Superintendents

• Assist Safety Management with OSHA/MSHA inspections and investigations

• Assist job site supervision with applicable permits

• Review job site permits and correct any issues

• Review STA’s daily and file in the job folder on R drive

• Maintain open communication with all levels of site supervision and office management

Meetings

• Meet with clients as required

• Conduct weekly safety meetings with project level Supervision, Project Management and Safety Department

• Monthly supervisor’s meeting – when applicable

• Meet with Safety Department on as needed basis

Required Computer Skills/Programs

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows

• Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access

• Procore

Responsibilities

• Able to communicate effectively with Safety Management, Project Managers, Field Engineers, Project Superintendents, Foremen and Craft Workers on security and safety related issues

Qualifications

• An Associate’s degree with an emphasis on construction safety or equivalent experience

• OSHA 30

• Establish goals with individual Career Development Plan and continue with professional education and development
