West Virginia Employer Research Scientist In Chemical Engineering in Morgantown, West Virginia

Draw on experience with Aspen Plus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, FOQUS, and Uncertainty Quantification to support research projects centered on supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2); conduct literature review and research on supercritical CO2 power cycles; develop Aspen plus models of supercritical CO2 power cycles; perform off-design analysis of supercritical CO2 power cycles models; build dynamic models of supercritical CO2 power cycles in Aspen Plus Dynamics; optimize off-design performance of supercritical CO2 power cycles; analyze the results of simulations and make recommendations for improving the off-design performance of supercritical CO2 power cycles; conduct literature review and research on uncertainty quantification of material property models; support the parametric estimation of the yield strength, creep and strain models and perform uncertainty quantification on these properties; extract relevant data from the literature to expand the current database for these properties; determine influential model parameters and their probability distributions; prepare parameter uncertainties to model results offering model predictions with defined uncertainty bounds; present research findings at conferences and workshops; write journal articles and technical reports on the main research findings. Domestic and/or international travel may be required up to 25%. May work remotely within normal commuting distance of Morgantown, WV. Requirements: PhD in chemical engineering or related plus 1 year of post-bachelors experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above. Experience must include the following: Aspen Plus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, FOQUS, and Uncertainty Quantification. The required skill/knowledge need not be maintained over the full term of experience required.
