Processes endoscopes, specialty scopes, and accessories according to manufacturer's instructions and hospital policies performing both high level disinfection and scope troubleshooting. Plans scope turnaround times to meet patient care needs based on the Perioperative Services' ENDO daily procedural schedule and physicians' needs/requests based on extensive knowledge of procedural scope use, departmental procedural policies, turnaround times, inventory PAR levels, and quality assurance. Serves as an endoscopic scope expert mentoring new endoscope processors and serving as a preceptor in the training and development of physicians, fellows, residents, or students. Covers ENDO processing call as needed to meet departmental operational needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must completed successful Endoscopy Technician training program within 90 days of hire. 3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. 4. Must obtain HSPA Certified Registered Central Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) upon hire.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE: 1. Four (4) years of Instrumentation, equipment, or endoscopy experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.   1. Cleans/processes endoscopes, specialty scopes, and accessories according to manufacturer's instructions in accordance with departmental policy and procedure, infection control standards, manufacturer's instructions (IFUs), and state/federal regulations. May serve as a preceptor in the training and development of new employees, transfers, physicians, fellows, residents, or students.
  2. Operates all sterilization, high-level disinfection, and decontamination equipment, in accordance with departmental policy and procedures safely and efficiently.
  3. Performs high level disinfection and endoscope/specialty scope troubleshooting. Plans scope turnaround times to meet patient care needs based on the Perioperative Surgical daily schedule and physician's needs/requests.
  4. Discerns and distinguishes colors to identify bio burden on instruments, scopes, and equipment.
  5. Restocks accurately procedural carts/work areas with scopes, accessories, and supplies. Provides input into suitable substitutes for service products and inventory PAR levels.
