Description The Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Behavioral Health Therapist for Athletics. About the Opportunity This position provides multiculturally-sensitive brief counseling (virtual and in person) and performance enhancement services for student athletes with diverse presenting concerns. Wellness programs What You'll Do Provide multiculturally-sensitive brief counseling (virtual and in person) and performance enhancement services for student athletes with diverse presenting concerns. Provide clinical services including, but not limited to, diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, short-term individual counseling, group counseling crisis intervention services, psychoeducation, and case management for student-athletes. Administer and document mental health screenings, risk assessments and reduction interventions. Provides consultation and outreach to counseling center and student life, student-athletes, coaches, and athletics administration. Complete required CCCPS documentation on an electronic health record system and quality assurance activities including routine monitoring and management of student treatment compliance (i.e., missed appointments, cancellations, etc.) in accordance with agency policies and state and federal regulations. Attend case conference, committees, task forces, and other meetings related to the missions of CCCPS and WVU Intercollegiate Athletics. Provide clinical supervision to trainees and facilitates didactic seminars on a variety of clinical, professional and wellness topics. Facilitates student-athlete access and transition to appropriate mental health providers for ongoing pharmacologic and longer term or specialized behavioral therapies as appropriate. In coordination with CCCPS leadership and Intercollegiate Athletics leadership and other campus collaborators, develops and supports various initiatives to promote student-athlete health, resilience and wellness. Represent the University on the highest professional level with dignity, integrity, and strength of character and will exhibit ethical behavior; must respect the rights and dignity of individuals with sensitivity to problems that may arise from gender, racial, ethnic and sexual orientation and other differences.
