Promise to Perform Industries Welding Supervisor in Morgantown, Pennsylvania
Spanco, Inc. manufactures and markets industrial lifting and fall protection solutions.
Primary Job Functions
- Setup & operation of metal inert gas (MIG) & tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding machines to weld steel and aluminum
- Use of standard hand tools such as files, squares, and tape measures
- Use of overhead cranes and fork trucks for material handling & manipulation of product components
- Coordination with administration for the purpose of completing job orders efficiently
- Enforce company policies and procedures
- Initiate training and perform inspections for department new hires
- Maintain training and inspection for all department employees
- Adjust job priorities and workflow based on demand and absences
Additional Job Functions
- Assist Shop Foreman in performing annual performance evaluations for department employees
- Report labor hours associated with each job via electronic scanner
- Identify and discard materials that fail to conform to company standards
- Assist other personnel as required
- Inventory cycle counting
- Implement new safety, quality, and efficiency guidelines for the department
Required Skills
- Ability to read and work with blueprints
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under minimal supervision
- Adaptability to a constantly changing work environment
Additional Skills
- Electrical wiring skills a plus
- Ability to visualize the end result prior to completion
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years welding
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience or equivalent work experience(s)
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Testing
- Pre-employment welding proficiency test
Certifications
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certification a plus, but is not required for employment
- Spanco provides on-going certification to AWS Standard D1.1
Physical Requirements
- The position requires standing for extended periods of time and periodic kneeling and back bending
- The heaviest amount of weight lifted is 30 lbs. Overhead cranes and fork trucks are required to be used to lift any material exceeding 30 lbs.
Work Environment
- The workplace is a well-maintained industrial factory environment
- Work is performed under some temperature variation due to annual seasonality
