REES LEGACY, LLC General Farm Ranch Worker (Temporary) in MORGAN, Utah
Temporary Need: 01/20/25 - 11/15/25. Two (2) full-time, seasonal, temporary General Farm Ranch Hand Workers needed. Requirements: A minimum of three (3) months livestock experience, ability to lift and carry 100 lbs, drive, and have working knowledge of farm machinery and livestock nutrition. Wage is $16.65/hour. Location: Work will be performed in Morgan, UT. All worksites are contiguous with the main ranch on Rees Lane in Morgan, Utah. There are 8500 acres of privately owned land in addition to a joining 6000 acres of private leased property. Hours: 50 hours/week, Mon-Sat from 7:00am - 5:00pm. Duties: In the Spring of the year, all of our combined livestock and ranch activities accelerate, and the increased workload remains steady throughout the entire livestock production and growing season, up to and through mid-November when cattle are shipped and farm equipment is cleaned and stored for the winter. It is during this very busy season that we need additional labor. The General Farm Ranch Hand position will be required to perform any combination of the following tasks to attend to livestock and farming operation: Monitor and care of 350 mother cows, assist with calving, move livestock using 4-wheeler or side-by-side to pastures for grazing; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; doctor; vaccinate; sort; weigh; tag; brand; load and unload cattle; place mineral blocks; herd into corral and/or stall and manually restraining animals; apply medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide; assist with castration of livestock; clip identifying notches or brands animals; move livestock from summer range in the Fall to ween, preg-test and vaccinate. Assist with setting up/taking down corals/seating for registered cattle sales on the ranch in February and early November. Regularly clean stalls/corrals; weld and repair/replace fence in rough terrain; spray weeds. Must be able to maintain flood irrigation throughout the hay growing season and keep damns built up; clean out chutes, culverts and cattle guards. Must be able to find and maintain bearings to grazing areas. The job entails operating tractors, swather and balers to rake, cut and bale hay; maintain/clean farm machinery. The job entails working around farm machinery and a variety of farm animals as well as exposure to predators and poisonous snakes. The worker must be willing and able to occasionally work independently or in small groups of workers. Most duties are performed out of doors, and entail exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust, rain and other environmental conditions. Worker must be able to crouch, bend, lift and carry up to 100 pounds. Worker must have Drivers License or have the ability to obtain a Drivers' License. Anticipate 50 hours/week with additional long/odd hours needed during haying season. Employer provided items (at no cost to the worker): All tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties assigned as well as transportation between worker(s) on-site housing and the work site. A cell phone or two way radio will be provided for emergency and ranch communications at no cost to the worker (excluding long distance charges). Employee must be willing to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision, and live and work singly or in small groups of workers in isolated areas for extended periods of time. Must provide employment eligibility documentation (I9 verification) upon hire. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. Applicants that have not worked as a livestock worker during the past twelve (12) months, up to two (2) references will be required. The employer guarantees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work days equal to at least 3/4's of the total work period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or advertised contractual first day of need. Whichever is later to occur, and ending on the expiration date specified. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer shall pay the worker the cost incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer ($15.88/day, maximum $59/day with receipts). The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage issued and determined by DOL for the time period the work is performed (or whichever is the highest pay rate).
