Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment is responsible for recruitment of domestic and international graduate students, including guiding them through the application and admission process. This individual will develop, maintain, and update program and market specific communication flows with the university customer relationship management (CRM). This work will require collaboration with the Office of Graduate and Extended Learning, the marketing team, and faculty to ensure the programs are represented accurately. The overarching goal of this position is to increase awareness of Minnesota State University Moorhead graduate offerings and engage with prospective students. Working under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, the position will focus on building and executing annual recruitment plans, implementing and executing marketing plans for each graduate program at Minnesota State University Moorhead, and engaging with prospective students through direct proactive outreach initiatives.

Responsibility #1: Develop and manage graduate recruitment and execute marketing plans to increase awareness of Minnesota State University Moorhead graduate offerings and grow enrollment.

  • Recruit students and work with prospects, applicants, and admitted graduate students through the enrollment process for each graduate program at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

  • Collaborate with university faculty, staff, and campus offices to develop a holistic recruitment marketing plan for graduate programs.

  • Work with the Office of Graduate and Extended Learning, the Office of Admissions, University Marketing and Communications, and external partners/agencies to develop and manage advertising campaigns, including the management of project timelines.

  • Evaluate market and demographic data to assess outcomes and analyze the data in conjunction with the offices of admissions, and marketing.

  • Collaborate and communicate with MSUM’s University Marketing and Communications on a regular basis to maintain transparency in efforts across campuses.

  • Collaborate with the office of Graduate and Extended Learning, and University Marketing and Communications to execute an ongoing plan for developing the graduate programs websites.

  • Attend in-person and virtual graduate fairs on behalf of MSUM’s graduate program offerings.

Responsibility #2: Develop and implement a communication strategy and communication flow for the graduate programs within MSUM Graduate Studies.

  • Develop and implement an annual communication plan under the supervision of the Office of Admissions and in collaboration with the Office of Graduate and Extended Learning and University Marketing and Communications.

  • Collaborate with the University Marketing and Communications, academic departments, current graduate students and graduate and undergraduate alumni to create content for electronic and print communications.

  • Manage electronic communication messaging within the CRM in conjunction with the CRM Analyst. Leverage the CRM to improve enrollment yields.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and execute communication and outreach efforts to historically under-represented populations.

  • Work with university partners and University Marketing and Communications regarding social media strategies and implementation.

  • Create efficient and effective communication templates for the Office of Admissions.

Responsibility #3: Budget

  • Plan and manage the annual budget for the graduate programs’ recruiting and advertising.

  • Plan and manage budget for graduate programs’ recruiting events, including fairs

  • Manage budget for recruiting tactics such as name buys and lead generation.

  • Tracking expenditures and ROI.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience in a related position and/or field, such as student recruitment, communication, journalism, recruitment marketing, community or public relations, fundraising/development and/or sales.

  • Knowledge of relevant computer hardware and software applications, preferably to include MS Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Ability to develop and maintain meaningful interpersonal relationships and effectively collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualification

  • Master’s degree in a field relating to the position goals including, but not limited to, education, leadership, communication, of business; and one (1) or more years of admissions or advising experience in a higher education setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to working with diverse cultures and populations.

  • Demonstrated experience and skills with web/internet resources, media production and/or recruitment marketing and public relations activities.

  • Strong oral, written and electronic communication skills, including editing/copy writing abilities and the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proven ability for developing and analyzing data.

  • Experience working as part of a team and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, quality-driven environment.

  • Knowledge and experience of Adobe Suite.

  • Data entry and database applications (ISRS, DARS) for records and reports.

Other Requirements

  • Candidate must meet requirements to serve as a Designated School Official as set by Homeland Security

  • Schedule requires some flexibility, including availability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.

  • Work may require some lifting, carrying and transporting of materials; also, some overnight travel is anticipated.

  • Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
