Career Opportunity

We have a career opportunity for a Software Engineer III to design, develop, test and deliver software solutions for the U.S. Navy AEGIS Technical Representative (TECHREP) program office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Software Engineer will participate in a team of several developers and IT staff supporting the development of applications for the Navy AEGIS TECHREP program office.

    Research, design, develop, and test computer software programs.
  • Develop the software systems that control computers.
  • Develop new computer software systems and incorporate new technologies in a rapidly growing range of applications.
  • Apply the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that enable computers to perform their many applications.
  • Analyze users' needs and design, construct, test, and maintain computer applications software or systems.
  • May be involved in the design and development of many types of software, including software for operating systems and network distribution, and compilers, which convert programs for execution on a computer.
  • Solve technical problems that arise.

Travel

  • This position includes a low level of travel.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Must have at least eleven years of professional experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in enterprise software development activities for web applications.
  • Must demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills to work closely with all levels of personnel involved in the technical aspects of systems.

Desired Experience

  • Familiarity with SECNAV M-5239.2 DON Cyber/IT Workforce Policy.
  • Experience with applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting.
  • Experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Ability to manage projects/tasks utilizing Business Intelligence Tools.
  • Desired experience in one or more of the following: Power Query, Power Pivot, Oracle, Access, Cognos, Google Analytics, SQL Server Analysis Services, Adobe Analytics or SAS JMP.
  • Desired experience with one or more of the following programming languages: M Language, DAX, SQL, VBA, C++, C#, HTML, Python, R and/or SAS.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling desired.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • At least one of the following certifications is desired:
    • CSSLP
    • CASP+CE
    • CCNP Security
    • CISA
    • CISSP (or Associate)
    • GCED
    • GCIH
  • Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification desired.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for long periods, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, and using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
