Leader Communications Inc. Telecommunications Mechanic in Moody AFB, Georgia
Position Summary
Provides Monthly Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for a Base Telecommunications System (BTS) in support of a base telephone voice switching system (VSS), Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) systems, and associated equipment. Individual must be able to attain and maintain a valid U.S. Government security clearance (Public Trust) in order to be retained in the position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Includes but not limited to the following:
Perform the full range of services related to copper and fiber cable installation, termination, repair, marking, cutover, and splicing procedures.
Perform Monthly Maintenance including Periodic Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and repair of manholes, hand holes, pedestals, and building entrance terminals.
Perform Work Orders including customer interface, conducting site survey, development of materials requirement, documentation, and implementation.
Provide location, staking, and marking services on BTS encased and direct buried conduit/cables, manholes, hand holes, pedestals, etc.
Verify correct location of BTS infrastructure using Global Positioning System (GPS) and update Cable Assignment Information Retrieval System (CAIRS) database with descriptive information.
Provide descriptive information red line drawing and input updates into the Cyberspace Visualization Component (CVC) system data entry.
Install and test all cable and components and provide record test results, IAW accepted industry standards.
Install electrical and communications cable, conduits, and circuits IAW the NEC.
Clearly label each end of every individual cable in accordance with the floor plans or engineering drawings at time of install.
Provide and place cable tags (labels) that are durable and legible.
When use of aerial cables is approved, installation and test shall be IAW accepted industry standards, unless superseded by a Government approved IS.

Education & Experience Requirements
Telecom Mech I - Must have 2 years qualified practical field experience
Telecom Mech II - Must have 5 years qualified practical field experience
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: All personnel require a minimum of a Tier 1 clearance for any position that requires access to the internet, use of automated systems or controlled areas prior to performance. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
Skill & Certification Requirements
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
