Montrose Memorial Hospital Physical Therapist Assistant/PRN in Montrose, Colorado

Position Overview:

The Physical Therapy Assistant shall comply with all aspects of the law of Colorado Physical Therapy Practice Act in providing physical therapy patient services under the supervision of a physical therapist who is properly credentialed. The Physical Therapy Assistant treats disabilities, injuries and diseases according to the initial evaluation, and Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant provides patient treatment, follow-up evaluations, and reassesses treatment goals in consultation with staff Physical Therapist.

Essential Functions :

a) Assists supervising Physical Therapist in the overall assessment of the patient.

b) Assists in the implementation of patient treatment.

c) Maintains documentation according to department standards.

d) Responsible for professional conduct, ethical practice and professional growth and development.

e) Responsible for interpersonal relationships.

f) Responsible for time management and productivity.

g) Performs other duties and responsibilities required for job.

h) Follows hospital-wide standards.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity.

Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education: The Physical Therapist Assistant must have completed a minimum of 2 years at a physical therapist assistant school. He/she must graduate from an AMA-APTA approved school.

b) Training & Experience: The Physical Therapist Assistant must hold an active medical license in states that require license or a permit from the licensing board while awaiting licensure examination. The Physical Therapist Assistant will be given on the job training in all treatment procedures that he/she performs.

c) Job Knowledge: Relates well with various people and personalities of all ages. Demonstrates good judgment and problem solving skills in a variety of staff and patient-related situations. Recognition of own limitations in practice and ability to seek out support and expertise of others. Demonstrates maturity as related to emotional involvement and self-assessment skills. Demonstrates ability to be flexible and adaptable. Demonstrates good verbal and written language skills including correct spelling and medical terminology. Basic CPR certification.
