THE OPPORTUNITY

Galvion has an unique opportunity for a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis to join our team supporting R&D and Project operations. You will be a trusted financial partner for all internal finance and business leaders. Your charge will be to lead and establish a disciplined control of processes, reporting, and systems. You will bring fresh insights, a business mindset and help us more efficiently support the growth of the business.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to lead the planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis of our various product R&D departments across Canada and the US. You will also work on costing, pricing, financial modeling, and ROI analysis. In this highly visible role, you will be relied upon to implement best practices.

LOCATION

Supporting teams in the U.S., you will be expected to travel to New Hampshire, Massachusettes and/or Vermont for a few days per month.

This will be an onsite role in the Montreal office for the first 3 months, following which it can be 2-3 days/week in office.

YOU WILL BE EVALUATED ON YOUR ABILITY TO:

  • Provide budgeting and forecasting support to senior leaders in a matrix organization and support programs and bid teams for new business.

  • Create and maintain financial models to forecast expenses, resource allocation, and project timelines.

  • Develop a meaningful monthly reporting and analysis package to support operational reviews.

  • Direct the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to R&D initiatives.

  • Prepare business case and post-mortems analysis for product R&D projects.

  • Develop costing and pricing models.

  • Conduct scenario analysis to assess potential impacts on R&D projects, enabling proactive decision-making.

  • Establish and maintain a robust system for tracking project expenses, ensuring accurate and timely recording of costs.

  • Develop and maintain project-level financial reports to provide visibility into project-specific financial performance.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience,

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on supporting R&D or product development functions.

  • Experience with project accounting and an understanding of R&D processes is highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

  • An analytical approach with strong communication skills.

  • Strong business acumen, ability to manage ambiguity, and confidence to collaborate with and present to senior leadership teams.

  • Proactive, continuous-improvement mindset with proven history of implementing new processes and systems.

  • Prior experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI (an asset).

  • CPA and/or CMA designation (an asset)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid passport and ability to travel to the U.S. regularly
