AON Senior Associate - Trading Operations in Montreal, Canada

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Montreal, Quebec office.

What the day will look like?

As a Senior Associate within the Aon Investments Operations team, your role will be to perform operational tasks and provide operational support to the Portfolio Management team and to Aon Investments in general.

  • Prepare and submit required trades to investment managers and custodians; and verify trade execution with reports received from investment managers and custodians

  • Work with brokers to execute ETF and FX trades via Bloomberg

  • Perform day-to-day reconciliation of cash and asset positions for clients and Aon Fund accounts;

  • Participate in tasks regarding the establishment of new funds and changes to existing funds;

  • Assist in the coordination of activities specific to investment operations related to client events (implementation, mandates changes, termination); and participate in client implementation meetings.

  • Act as a liaison between consultants, portfolio managers and custodians;

  • Assist other teams with different tasks and projects;

  • Ensure that written procedures are up to date;

  • Train and guide new employees;

  • Plan and coordinate ad hoc work;

  • Provide input to manager and suggest operational improvements to increase the team’s efficiency;

  • Work independently and lead projects with minimal direct supervision;

  • Ability to lead team meetings; and assume manager role in their absence;

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 3 + years of experience in investment or fund operations

  • Prior experience working with custodians, investment managers, investment consulting firms, actuaries, lawyers and other parties involved in the management of pension plans;

  • Operational excellence and customer service;

  • Attention to detail and completion of high quality results;

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet timelines;

  • French / English bilingualism is preferred due to the frequent interactions with clients, colleagues, or partners based in Quebec, other Canadian provinces and/or internationally.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word;

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work within a collaborative team;

  • Education in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or equivalent years of industry experience.

    Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Bloomberg AIM or any previous experience with Order Management System is preferred;

  • Experience with trade settlement platforms such as DTCC ALERT & CTM.

  • Knowledge of pooled funds, equity, and FX trading

  • CFA designation or participation in the CFA program is an asset.
