BDC SENIOR ANALYST, BUSINESS QUALITY REVIEW (BQR) - Temporary 12 months in Montreal, Canada

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Quality Review (‘BQR’) Group monitors quality, consistency and reliability in Transactions and other identified activities with the objective of improving BDC overall quality of operations. The BQR team reviews Transactions, processes, procedures, reports, and other information and conducts testing to assess reliability, accuracy, completeness of information and assesses whether governance, risk management and control processes are operating as intended.

The Senior Analyst, Business Quality Review (BQR) actively participates and/or leads in the implementation and ongoing delivery of BDC’s testing program of internal controls and compliance responsibilities. In addition, the Senior Analyst will act as an expert in data extraction, analytics and reporting for the BQR team. Incumbent roles specifically include:

  • Acts as an expert on available data, performs analysis, realizes specific testing activities, oversees the development of monitoring tools and dashboards and makes recommendations to enhance controls and risk management practices.

  • Participates in transaction testing, finding documentation, and supports the implementation of recommendations to improve controls and compliance.

  • Participates in Compliance reviews and testing as well as the documentation of findings and remediation activities.

  • The Senior Analyst, Business Quality Review will progress at the national level and report to the Assistant Vice President, Business Quality Review.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Proactive in identifying trends and areas of opportunity to improve guides, business rules, procedures, and controls by focusing on root cause identification and correction.

  • Review high-volume transactions, including documentation, to confirm adherence to directives and procedures, accuracy of the risk rating and adequacy of the due diligence performed.

  • Support the execution of compliance reviews, including documentation, to confirm compliance to regulatory and corporate compliance framework and requirements in alignment with applicable Policies and Directives

  • Support the testing and deep dive assessments associated with Operational Risk Events requiring immediate and detailed reviews in support of material Operational Risk findings

  • Support the preparation of reports summarizing the findings, make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of controls as well as compliance with corporate policies, directives and industry guidelines. Validate the implementation of such recommendations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and of Canadian Banking products, processes, and organizations

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in data extraction and analytics

  • 3-5 years of relevant business experience

  • Strong analytical qualitative and quantitative skills (advanced MS Excel, Power BI, SQL)

  • Ability to produce and communicate polished and crisp reports and analyses

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; including cross-functional collaboration ability

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
