Manulife Privacy Compliance Consultant in Montreal, Canada

Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, Manulife Canada, the Privacy Compliance Consultant will primarily focus on providing privacy compliance support to Manulife Canada. In this role, the consultant will engage with key business partners, other members of the Compliance Team and Legal Counsel.

Position Responsibilities:

You will have a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Managing privacy-related investigations and conducting mandatory internal and external reporting of escalated privacy incidents

  • Assisting complaint handling teams with privacy-related complaints

  • Providing support to Business Unit Compliance teams (and business areas directly, where appropriate) by advising on complex privacy-related matters and identifying privacy related risks and Issues

  • Consulting with Business Unit Compliance and/or business areas on matters relating to Privacy Impact Assessments

  • Responding to privacy related inquiries from stakeholders

  • Conferring with Chief Privacy Officer and/or the Legal Department on high risk, contentious, litigious privacy issues, complaints, and requests

  • Escalating and/or notifying of unresolved privacy issues to Chief Privacy Officer and appropriate Business Unit Chief Compliance Officer(s)

  • Assisting in the identification and management of privacy risks

  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of applicable privacy training and guidance

  • Keeping apprised of privacy, data protection and cybersecurity legislative changes and regulatory reform impacting Manulife’s Canadian business and operations

  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of Canada-specific privacy standard, processes, templates and playbooks

Required Qualifications:

  • Privacy and / or regulatory compliance (or related) experience

  • Ability to readily recognize and evaluate the impact of current or potential privacy compliance issues.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret complex compliance concepts

  • Ability to make risk-based decisions in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong social skills, influencing and relationship management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complicated messages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University degree in business or a related field

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations is preferred

  • Ability to work with fluid and changing accountabilities.

  • Willingness to assist team members on projects and assist in sharing workloads as required.

  • Work independently and in a team environment.

  • Exceptionally organized, strategic, and adept at managing time efficiently.

  • Well developed inter-personal skills to provide a high level of service and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and colleagues

Salary range is expected to be between

$67,275.00 CAD - $112,125.00 CAD
