This position resides within the central office Residential Licensing & Special Investigations Unit. The position is home based. It will primarily cover the central/southwestern region of the state but there is an expectation of regular statewide travel. Duties include a broad range of social work activities. The unit's workers oversee licensing and regulation of foster homes, child placing agencies for foster care and adoption, residential treatment programs, and Commissioner designated shelters while also responding to child abuse allegations within these settings and within the additional settings of child care and schools. The candidate can expect to engage in Chapter 49 child safety interventions, complete home studies for the Interstate Compact for Placement of Children, assess and license foster and kinship foster care homes, perform regulatory licensing assessments and interventions in all regulated facilities, and maintain an ongoing and collaborative relationship with Family Services district office staff and other state departmental agencies.
