National Institutes of Health Pharmacy Technician (Sterile Compounding) in Montgomery County, Maryland

Summary The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Pharmacy is seeking exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Pharmacy Technicians. This announcement is being advertised to fill pharmacy technician vacancies within the Clinical Center Pharmacy Department's Sterile Compounding-IVAU Section. Responsibilities As a Pharmacy Technician GS-0661-07, your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Accurately filling medication orders by selecting the right dosage form, strength, and quantity. Accurately repackaging medications following departmental procedures. Assuring patient medications have been checked and released by a pharmacist prior to dispensing or delivery. Preparing sterile, hazardous and non-hazardous products according to established procedures and current pharmacy standards (i.e., USP <797>, <800>). Following gowning, garbing, and hand-hygiene procedures. Using aseptic techniques to compound sterile products. Selecting the correct dosage form, strength, and quantity as ordered, Accurately restocking and maintaining medication periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) levels. Transporting and maintaining the chain of custody of all medications delivered from the pharmacy. Prioritizing deliveries based on STAT, NOW and ROUTINE designations. Accurately following departmental procedures for removing and returning medications to and from inventory. Receiving and verifying drug storage based on product requirements to include hazardous and non-hazardous, refrigerated/frozen and protection from light/heat. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You qualify at the GS-07 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: A. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Accurately compounding sterile medications using aseptic technique; cleaning, operating, and maintaining specialized pharmacy equipment including biological safety cabinets; accurately performing pharmaceutical calculations; accurately measuring appropriate ingredients; and accurately logging investigational drugs to maintain inventory balance. OR B. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have completed one full year of graduate education, or an internship, in Pharmacy related education. One year of full-time graduate education is the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study, or 18 semester hours. OR C. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have a combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
