Summary About the Position: This position is located at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, Technology Integration in Monterey, California. Monterey is approximately 115 miles south of San Francisco and 350 miles north of Los Angeles. Responsibilities Maintain daily calendar, schedule meetings and appointments as needed. Prioritize and execute daily tasks and workflow based on workload, current issues, and supervisor's priority. Utilize office automation system and software packages to generate letters and memoranda required to transmit various reports and messages. Review and complete personnel action requests, prepare justification, and write citations for incentive awards. Monitors execution of the annual performance evaluation system for the entire Directorate. Process Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) requests and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders including routing of requests and orders. Serves as the timekeeper for the directorate personnel using an automated reporting system. Orient employees on directorate policies and procedures and in obtaining or attending mandatory training. Update office supply source catalogues; purchases supplies, equipment, and services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-6: One year of specialized experience which includes composing various correspondence, documents, or reports utilizing automated systems, maintain files or data using automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: I have successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-7: One year of specialized experience which includes composing various correspondence, documents, or reports utilizing automated systems, maintain files or data using automated systems, and assist in administrative management function including scheduling, purchasing or supply management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
