Director, Spa & Recreation
Reporting to the Hotel Manager, the Director, Spa & Recreation is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day operations of the Spa, Retail, Compass Sports, Paintbox Children’s Program and Recreation. Responsible for the development and overseeing the division strategy; including program activation, partnerships, and operational excellence through effective leadership, excellent guest service and engaged associates whilst maximizing financial performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major areas of responsibility/ management include but are not limited to:
Direct all Spa, Retail and recreation functions ensuring dynamic programming, services, facilities, and operations.
Direct all Compass Sports and Paintbox functions ensuring dynamic programming, services, facilities, and operations.
Mentor, lead, coach and guide direct reports to become effective and efficient leaders and experts in their respective areas of responsibility
Create a supportive and professional environment which consistently delivers an experience that exceeds guest and associate expectations for all areas of responsibility.
Responsible for selection of all qualified candidates, communicating performance expectations, providing Associates with on-going feedback, mentoring, and conducting official performance reviews.
Develop and monitor financial strategies to increase revenues while controlling operating expenses,
Effectively utilize available technology and software to ensure sound business practices and a data driven approach to decision making.
Develop and enforce standard operating systems, to ensure facilities are maintained to Five Star luxury standards.
Strategically and proactively develop programs, marketing initiatives and promotions to increase revenue generating opportunities, enhance the Guest experience, and increase repeat Guest base.
Support the marketing and public relations efforts at the hotel through the creation of experiences, activations, and special events. Provide content and narrative support for any media requests assigned by the PR Team.
Establish beneficial partnerships with local guides, land, and resource partners.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management based on business needs that may be outside the scope of normal duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school or equivalent education required.
5 plus years of relevant work experience as a Spa, Retail, and/or Recreation leader.
Luxury hotel experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated passion for Spa, Retail, Recreation, and the outdoors.
Authentic team builder who can motivate team members and hold them accountable.
Ability to handle high pressure circumstances with a calm demeanor.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
Required to become CPR and First Aid certified.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekend, evenings, and holidays.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong business acumen that includes forecasting, budgeting, and P&L analysis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The majority of work tasks are performed indoors but may also occur outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
