Wage Range: $23.98 - $32.38 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, applicable education and internal equity.
EvergreenHealth Monroe, a small semi-rural acute care hospital has a fantastic opportunity for DIETARY FOOD SERVICE WORKERS to fill a position in our organization to provide food preparation and delivery to our patients and customers. JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serves food to retail customers and maintains café cleanliness. Delivers and picks up food carts at designated times. Performs dishwashing and cleaning duties. Assists in unpacking and storing stock following HACCP guidelines. Under supervision, may assist with food preparation by preparing ingredients. Prepares or assists in patient tray assembly and delivery .
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
High school graduate or equivalent. Food handlers card required. Requires clear valid Driver's License in order to drive company vehicle.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to operate a variety of kitchen equipment. Must be able to read, write and follow instructions
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Risk of exposure to communicable disease and Blood-borne Pathogens. Risk of injury from operating equipment. Exposure to household cleaning chemicals, heat and humidity.
WORK CONTACT GROUP: All departments, personnel, patients, and the public.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stands and walks for most of the working day. Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds). Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull.
Essential Functions:
Serves food to patients and retail customers.
Inspects work area for cleanliness prior to beginning shift, and reports unsanitary conditions to supervisor.
Operates equipment and reports malfunctions to managers.
Ensures that cafe supplies for front-of-house, retail area, are always stocked.
Follows daily posted cleaning schedule.
Attends all in-services offered by the department.
Assists in training new employees.
Assists all customers in a friendly and timely manner to ensure satisfaction.
Maintains stocking and cleanliness of salad bar and beverage machines.
Ensures the cleanliness of dishes, silverware, pots and pans; stores cleaned items in proper space.
Always maintains a clean and organized work environment.
Utilizes food and supplies in a cost-effective manner to minimize waste.
Always keeps steam table area clean and food covered.
Adheres to department protocols for handling food and maintains professional attire and grooming.
Assists in unpacking orders and rotates stock in storage according to F.I.F.O. methodology.
Reports food shortages to appropriate person.
Assists as needed to expedite the workflow, including plating food for patients, retail customers and catering.
Properly wraps and stores unused food following the labeling system with pull dates.
Stocks (floor stock) items in all areas of the hospital.
Delivers trays to patients and retrieves dirty trays using an enclosed cart.
Responds to changes in the workload and schedules as necessary and continually uses time in a productive manner.
Maintains stock levels for all patient tray items.
Under supervision, may cut or chop fruits, vegetables, or herbs.
Pre-sets patient trays for meal service.
