The EHS Manager monitors established safety programs within the manufacturing facilities. Provides guidance for implementing procedures and programs to minimize environmental health and safety risks in the workplace and ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements including OSHA, ISO 14001, and EPA.

Serves as a resource to the facilities in areas of environmental, health and safety. Assist the manufacturing facilities with providing the proper team member and supervisory training, assists the manufacturing facilities with accident investigations and all environmental health and safety audits, communicates with internal and external parties, and conducts or facilitates appropriate industrial hygiene monitoring of each facility. Follow up with the facilities regarding corrective actions from audits, investigations and the written OSHA compliance safety programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Safety and Health

  • Reinforce the proactive prevention-oriented policies and programs to ensure the safety and health of our team members.

  • Provide support to the HR Managers regarding OSHA complaint responses and onsite OSHA visits.

  • Confirm that proper safety precautions are in place at the time of set-up of new programs, retooling, etc. as directed and developed by the EHS Director.

  • Partners with manufacturing facilities Human Resources and the Learning & Development Manager to enhance the company safety culture.

  • Works in collaboration with manufacturing facilities managers, engineering and human resources, to ensure that proper safety practices are being followed through frequent manufacturing facility visits.

  • Works in collaboration with the manufacturing facility managers, engineering and HR to ensure compliance with required safety practices in accordance with the company safety program and provide resources to achieve compliance.

  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing and managing EH&S policies, programs and practices.

  • Assist with maintaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) archive and communicate chemical hazards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Audit Job Safety Analysis.

  • Help develop activities of safety committees in the manufacturing facilities by providing corporate direction for committees.

  • Assists in accident/incident investigations requiring tracking and follow-up actions.

  • Partner with manufacturing facilities on company LOTO safety compliance program and assist plant personnel with procedures.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Environmental

  • Manage environmental project activities as assigned by the EHS Director.

  • Work with the manufacturing facilities to ensure Company obtains appropriate licenses and environmental permits.

  • Review the environmental risk of activities with the manufacturing facilities per the EHS Director.

  • Assist the manufacturing facilities personnel and management to maintain compliance with government environmental regulations as directed by the EHS Director.

  • Work with the EHS Director and the manufacturing facilities to ensure the necessary information is available to timely file the required environmental reports.

  • Maintain working knowledge of current and proposed government environmental codes, standards, regulations and guidelines.

  • Support manufacturing facilities approach to ISO14001 certification.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university with a safety or engineering focus; or three to five years safety specific experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with plant personnel.

  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions to groups of managers and Team Members in the manufacturing facilities.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook and Internet software.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Specialized safety training certificates preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
