    Reports to - Building Principal Salary

Experience honored, up to 10 years or per board approval

Minimum salary of $47,500 (based on current experience and education)

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the building principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district and state approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing special education needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, families, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

    Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers district and state approved curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.

  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and to student learning.

  • Communicates learning goals to students and parents/families.

  • Develops lesson plans to maximize learning opportunities in the classroom, which stress complex thinking and mastery of student outcomes.

  • Encourages pupils to think independently, express original ideas, and work well on their own.

  • Creates learning opportunities aligned with district standards; allows students to transfer what they learn to real-life applications.

  • Provides opportunities for students to develop skills as collaborative workers and to become effective communicators.

  • Designs learning activities that utilize technology in a meaningful way.

  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and differentiates instruction to meet individual student’s needs.

  • Conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

  • Provides meaningful feedback to students within a multi-tiered system of supports.

  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

  • Establishes a classroom environment that is fair and promotes learning.

  • Organizes and maintains accurate records, grades, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

  • Encourages parental/family involvement in student education and ensures effective communication with students and parents/families.

  • Collaborates with other professional staff members, especially within the grade level and department, to evaluate and assess curriculum.

  • Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.

  • Administers standardized assessments in accordance with district testing policies.

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal and other district office administrators as designated by the superintendent.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a specialized field of education.

  • Successful completion of criminal background investigation.

The PCM Community School District serves the communities of Prairie City, Monroe, and Reasnor. We are located in south central Iowa, within close proximity to the Des Moines Metro area.

PCM Community School District offers a comprehensive bene?ts package, including IPERS. Employees have the opportunity to get paid $160 for unused personal days. Teacher flex work days are offered for certain professional development days during the school year. The district offers teachers a wide range of teacher leadership opportunities.
