Walton County Board of Commissioners Equipment Operator in Monroe, Georgia
DEPARTMENT: Public Works ENTRY SALARY: $17.23 per hour, plus benefits JOB SUMMARY: This position performs equipment operation duties in support of assigned public works construction and maintenance projects. Operates heavy equipment in the maintenance and repair of county roads, bridges, rights-of-way, and drainage systems. Unloads and loads equipment for transport; transports equipment to work sites. Clears trees and debris following storms. Assists in grading roadways. Flags traffic at work sites. Performs pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Operates a variety of hand and power tools. Performs related duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
