Akima Support Operations Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead in Model, Colorado

Position Summary:The Heavy Equipment Mechanic, lead analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, generators, weed eaters, tractors, and pneumatic tools. This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles, and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests equipment to insure operating efficiency. May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust, and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling, and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead 1. Supervise mechanics in troubleshooting and follow maintenance procedures to determine repair vs. replacement. 2. Perform cross-level maintenance on commercial and military equipment. 3. Manage and distribute daily workload to employees -experience briefing maintenance updates to upper management. 4. Maintain daily employee accountability and report any issues to the supervisor/management.

  1. Counsels/coaches employees as required and provides input to upper management.
  2. The Lead Mechanic will inspect, annotate, and order repair/service parts for all maintenance requests.
  3. Conduct "In-Shop" functions during work order progress to ensure repairs are to standard IAW Technical and Commercial Manuals.
  4. Knowledge using GCSS-Army to check parts, labor, and work order statuses.
  5. Good interpersonal skills, allowing total focus on solving problems, maintaining confidentiality, and being open-minded to new ideas. Promote a safe work environment.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.JOR JOB ACTIVITES:

EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Hand tools, power tools, job related test equipment such as scanners and computers. Microsoft Office, GCSS-Army, Fed log, IGC or any application which enhances the function of the Maintenance Department. Also used for reference purpose, PWS, QDS, TM s, TB s AR s and DA PAM s.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School graduate or equivalent with training in equipment maintenance and management procedures at the DS/GS level of maintenance.

Experience: 3 to 5 years, experience in equipment maintenance at the journeyman level. Commercial experience on Heavy/light vehicles.

Leadership: A minimum of three years experience is required in leadership, following

policies and procedures, timecards, counseling etc. Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License prior to starting or by 30 days after employment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC. Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.

WAGE: $32.69/ Hr

SHIFT: Full Time Regular Job
