Performance Pet Lead (1st Shift) in Mitchell, South Dakota

We are currently seeking a 1st shift Lead to help guide our Chubbs Department in Mitchell, SD. This opportunity provides a competitive hourly rate and a complete benefits package that includes, but is not limited to, health, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance, and paid holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work safely, comply and enforce all company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices and procedures

Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements regarding environmental, and food/feed safety

Support and lead managements daily objectives and assignments; monitor work activities for assigned department

Promote and lead continuous improvement in safety, quality, time performance and key performance indicators (KPIs)

Plan and verify materials needed for future production runs daily based on the production schedule

Provide training to new/existing employees and ensure all facility equipment is operated correctly based on machine-specific SOPs

Perform control checks at each workstation, especially during changeovers, to verify company quality standards

Monitor equipment and manufacturing process; adjust the flow of production to maintain production standards

Perform basic operator troubleshooting and communicate any accidents, threats, or downtime to shift supervisor

Keep all areas are safe, clean, and organized throughout shift to maintain safety and product quality

Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and being used according to SOPs; collect and review documentation at shift end

Train and assist in other departments or throughout facility to provide additional coverage or leadership, as needed

Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal work load

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

AS degree or applicable certifications, preferred

1-3 years experience in manufacturing/machine operation; preferably food manufacturing

Advanced written and verbal communication, with ability to maintain accurate records

High level of professionalism, confidentiality, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail

Strong sense of initiative and problem-solving with the ability to manage time and deadlines with little supervision

Ability to understand and operate basic computer systems; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb, frequently

Ability to tolerate varying environmental conditions; wet, slippery conditions; and confined spaces

Ability to perform safety-sensitive position
