Job Title: HVAC Technician

Job Summary:

EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a HVAC Technician in Mitchel Field, NY. The Technician will report daily to the customer Facility Manager and support him/her to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities will be responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on any HVAC system or building operation concerns as well as performing general maintenance of equipment as required. Knowledge of and capable to perform minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, flooring and various general tasks assigned listed below. Qualified applicant must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license and have at least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in facilities/HVAC maintenance and dealing with a wide range of general type services. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to be on-call during non-business hours. This position requires applicant to posses an “Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain”.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Communicates effectively with the client Facility Manager to determine service needs. Reports any operational concerns to the client and supports client sub-contractors while performing service on site.

HVAC maintenance and repair skills. PM, troubleshoot and minor repairs to equipment as required.

Perform general maintenance activities, clean up, table/chair set ups, sign making, assist other technicians, moving and re-arranging of furniture and electronic equipment, etc.

Minor electrical work replacing light bulbs, (fluorescent, incandescent, etc.), ballast and lenses.

Performs a wide variety of corrective maintenance work request such as replacing floor tiles, carpet tiles, ceiling tiles, sheetrock, spackling, painting, repair furniture, vertical blinds, locks, etc.

Perform preventive maintenance on select equipment (hydraulic shear, water filtration replacement, etc.).

Perform Universal waste material collection, logging and the preparation for disposal. Load and unload of material delivered or shipped via truck. Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Assist the team in maintaining, operating and troubleshooting the HVAC heating, ventilating, air conditioning, air handling units, and general maintenance issues such as plumbing and other general maintenance tasks assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

HS Diploma

Business Experience

2- 4 years of experience related to HVAC and overall facility maintenance.

Licenses/Certifications

Valid US driver’s license

Must have an Active Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a secret clearance to qualify for position.

EPA approved CFC certification is required, Journeymen license preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Technical Qualifications & Skills

Ability to perform various general type maintenance tasks. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence utilizing basic computer skills and ability to communicate via email and internet use. 1-2 years’ experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Knowledge and operational understanding of various types of HVAC equipment and normal building operations.

Must have experience and knowledge to complete the responsibilities/duties listed above.

Knowledge and experience with utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required..

Organization skills to maintain the client facility maintenance records and reports.

Time management skills to coordinate and supervise the client sub-contractors while on site and manage to complete the daily routine tasks assigned.

Compensation Range: $34/hr-$38/hr

Other Compensation: not bonus or commission eligible
