JOB OVERVIEW

The Service Operations Training Manager is pivotal in identifying improvement opportunities within our technician experience. This role involves implementing strategies to enhance their work environment, tools, and processes, thereby positively impacting their daily work life. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and supportive, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere. Additionally, this role is responsible for implementing the Service Competence Development Strategy, overseeing training, and ensuring continuous improvement to align employee skills and performance with current and future needs. This position also leads a team of professionals dedicated to creating and executing training programs that elevate the Technician Experience.

Please note : This position is 100% remote and open to considering candidates in US, Canada, and Mexico. # of Direct Reports : 10 - includes Training Coordinator and Staff/Field Trainers

Travel requirement : Up to 75% domestic travel

JOB DUTIES:

  • Evaluates technician pain points (through surveys and engagement with frontline). Leads, directs, develops teams/team of training professionals to ensure that KONE’s training and development strategy is implemented effectively. Ensures these programs improve technician experience and within established budgets. Additionally, all training requests are “Scrubbed” for clarity and “time effectiveness.

  • Assess the skills and knowledge gaps among technicians to create comprehensive training programs to meet current and future needs, including designing curriculum and developing training materials. Collaborates with functional and operational managers to develop and implement training plans that are appropriate for their business needs, but consistent with KONE’s overall training strategy.

  • Collaborates with functional and operational managers to develop and implement workflows and training plans that are appropriate for improving technician experience, consistent with KONE’s overall strategy.

  • Track the progress of trainees and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Adjust training strategies as needed to improve outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance of all training programs comply with industry regulations and company policies. This includes staying updated on the latest standards and best practices.

  • Manage Training Resources: Oversee the training budget, manage training materials, and coordinate with external vendors or trainers as necessary.

  • Support Career Development: Provide ongoing support and development opportunities for technicians to help them advance in their careers and stay updated with new technologies and processes.

  • Stays current on developments and innovations in training and education in industry and government education sectors so that the organization’s training activities develop accordingly.

  • Rotating user groups (techs) for ideas to lean out to enhance the Technician Experience.

KSAOs

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of the technical subjects being taught, which may include specific software, hardware, or industry-specific technologies, standards, regulations, and best practices.

  • Instructional Design: Ability to design effective training programs and materials, using principles of instructional design to ensure content is engaging and educational.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.

  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to manage training teams, coordinate with other departments, and oversee the implementation of training programs.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs through data analysis and feedback.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt training methods and materials to different learning styles and technological advancements.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in a role in a technical training role.

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical training manager, technical trainer, or in a similar role.

  • Experience in developing technical course content. Hands-on experience in delivering training sessions, both in-person and virtually.

  • Knowledge and experience working in a field service technician delivery model.

  • General knowledge and prior experience in the area in question

The compensation package offered will depend on the candidate’s ability to meet the requirements of the role and a range of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to their skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and location.
