Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places , AECOM's Architectural business unit, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as technical lead on projects. This position is based out of our Canadian headquarters in Markham, ON with opportunities for hybrid work.
The Buildings and Places Team is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers Engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for vertical construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / waste water and transit facilities.
Major Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Act as technical lead on projects.
Plan and implement the approach to delivering project scope, including distributing workload between assigned team members and managing quality of deliverables
Estimate and develop level of effort to undertake defined scopes of work.
Preparing electrical drawings and specification
Implement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)
Developing various types of reports including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents
Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the project
Conduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific data
Ensuring design conforms with all applicable codes and standards;
Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors; responding to technical queries
Construction administration responsibilities:
Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reports
Shop drawing reviews
SI and CCN preparations.
Contractor`s change quotation reviews
Progress billing reviews
Fire alarm verification report reviews
Able to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same
Sound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for the position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
No less than a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering + six (6) years of experience as a P.Eng, working within an engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
Preferred Requirements:
Prefer someone with twelve (12) to fifteen (15)+ years of experience as a P.Eng, in the engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group
Electrical design experience on any of the following buildings types is an asset:
Transit ("front of house" subway stations, and "back of house" operations/maintenance/storage facilities),
Institutional (public safety, correctional)
Industrial (Battery manufacturing, Water and Wastewater/Process oriented facilities)
Experience with Electrical load calculations, lighting design and analysis a plus
Familiarity with OESC,OBC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codes
Experience in designing electrical power, fire alarm and lighting systems
Knowledge with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Familiarity with providing guidance and support for others within a department
Analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, coordinate, and work collaboratively with others both internally and externally
Strong verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and quality
Self-motivated and proactive
Analytical, resourceful and detailed oriented
A good team player and decision maker.
Valid driver's license
Additional certifications such as LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD etc. are a bonus
Communications system design experience is a plus
Experience with IES energy modeling tool is desirable
Some Project Management experience and training desired
Additional Information
Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $165,000.00.
