What part will you play?
The Accounting Manager will be a key member of the Canada accounting team and will be responsible for managing and supporting the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. The Accounting Manager administers the payroll process, incl. commissions calculations, oversees month-end close, including the monthly billing process with PMs, the PoC process, ensures accurate and timely financial and sales reporting, and oversees the work of other members of the team to drive required results.
Location: Must live in the Mississauga, ON, Canada area - Hybrid position
What will you be doing?
Oversee and manage the month end close process
Manage all general ledger accounting, including accurate asset tracking, inventory control, and preparing required analysis and reconciliations
Prepare monthly journal entries and review the work of senior accountants, ensuring timely and accurate close of the general ledger
Cashflow management, including payment run reviews and approvals along with required weekly reporting
Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports to ensure accuracy and completeness, along with analyzing and explaining variances
Assist with the preparation of forecasts and budgets
Manage the year-end close process
Manage the preparation, filing, and payment of monthly sales tax, corporate tax, and other statutory filings
Administer and manage bi-weekly payroll in conjunction with corporate team, including monthly commissions calculations and related entries
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
Assess current practices, policies, and procedures and identify and execute the necessary recommendations for improvements
Perform other ad hoc responsibilities and projects as directed by management
What do we require from you?
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
A thorough understanding of GAAP accounting principles and standards, preferably IFRS and/or US GAAP
Strong attention to detail is critical to success
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify the root cause of problems, propose solutions to corrective actions
Able to convey complex financial information clearly, both verbally and in writing
Must maintain high ethical standards, meet confidentiality requirements, to ensure the security and privacy of both financial and personal data
Proficient in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial management tools
Proficient experience with Microsoft Excel: advanced spreadsheet skills required- including but not limited to Pivot Tables, V-lookup, and working with large and complex datasets. Experience working with SQL, VBA, or Business Intelligence (BI) tools is considered an asset
Experience with ERP system environment

Education/Certification/License Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field required
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards/near completion
Work Experience:
5 - 8 years’ relevant experience, preferably supervising others, or strong, experienced senior ready to take the next step in career
