Overview

Seeking an experienced and Engineering Leader with a strong background in user experience design, construction, test, delivery and implementation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving high velocity engineering, and has competencies in technical, strategic, and interpersonal skills. As a Front-End Engineering Leader, you will lead a team of skilled professionals, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure, and performant engineering solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee a multi-disciplinary and multi-team group of software engineers, implementing modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices within agile software delivery pods.

  • Cultivate a high-performing, achievement-oriented culture that supports psychological safety and fosters an intentional, driven, and enjoyable work environment.

  • Exhibit exemplary leadership qualities, showing what it means to be a high-integrity partner across IT, business units, and shared service functions.

  • Collaborate in the creation of SGWS’s future state software product/platform delivery model, ensuring alignment with cloud-native environment requirements and digital experience delivery.

  • Lead and support the development of teams proficient in web and mobile experiences, cloud-native application/service infrastructure, and the implementation of modern software delivery pipelines.

  • Manage 2-3+ Technology Managers, guiding both product and project delivery in a rapidly evolving environment, with a co-accountability for strategic alignment of team practices.

  • Actively participate in the recruitment and development of engineering talent, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide strategic goals and fostering an innovative technology landscape.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and formal education in relevant disciplines (Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or relevant degreed)

  • 10+ years related experience in technology management, customer relationship management and staff management

  • Expertise in major front-end tech (e.g., React/React Native, Angular, Vue, Adobe Experience Manager, SFDC Front-end (Lightning etc.)).

  • Proficiency in responsive design, mobile-first approaches, and web standards

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices

  • Ability to align technical efforts with business goals and priorities

  • Experience in tech stack decision-making and strategy development

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, especially leading front-end engineering teams

  • Effective communication and negotiation capabilities

  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving acumen

  • Understanding of team growth and retention opportunities
