GIS Technician is a role that captures and implements best practices on data management and GIS usage for our Engineering/GIS customers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Compiling geographic information in the form of satellite images, geographical surveys, and aerial photographs.
• Researching and verifying geographic data.
• Entering new data into the GIS database.
• Drawing maps usingGIScomputer software.
• Ensuring maps are annotated and compiled with the correct information.
• Compiling reports using all available GIS and GPS data sources.
• Maintaining the GIS database and troubleshooting data issues.
• Traveling to geographic sites toobtain field data.
• Work closely with designers and engineers to understand the client's business issues and challengestopropose Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions.
• Assistin planning for various projects, including development of the project scope, estimates of effort and other required resources to complete projects.
• Propose GIS solutions to problems considering timeliness and effectiveness in addressing the client's needs.
• Trace map elements to generate vector data thatindicatespecific coverage information or geographic attributes.
• Design or prepare graphic representations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, using GIS hardware or software applications.
• Analyze GIS data toidentifyspatial relationships or display results of analyses, using maps,graphs,or tabular data.
• Review existing and incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness,quality,or completeness of documentation.
• Assistin the development of organization-wide GIS standards and policies.
• Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software, and program.
• Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• You have aminimum of anAssociate's Degree inGIS, Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Geography, Natural Resources,or related fieldis required.
• 1-2 years of GIS work experience preferred.
• Geospatial technology knowledge, including some orall: Esri's Web GIS software including ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server), ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Apps Suite, ArcGIS Insights and ArcGIS Pro + Business Analyst software suite or similar platform and software packages.

Location

This position is based in our Minot, ND office; however, occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.

Salary and Benefit Information

This is a full-time exempt position with a competitive pay based on experience, plus a competitive benefits package. As an additional benefit, Ackerman-Estvold compensates salaried individuals for overtime at the base rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.
