Job Title: Welder
Job Description
As a Welder, you will be responsible for loading sheets of steel into a Rolling Machine, adjusting the machine based on the steel's thickness, and performing MIG welding on mild and stainless steel, typically 16 gauge thick. You will conduct horizontal and vertical welds mostly on a table in front of you or off the ground, seam welds to connect metal chutes, and utilize a hand grinder to smooth out the welds. Additionally, you will work off blueprints, set up and adjust the weld station per job requirements, and perform light assembly on handles and hardware using hand and power tools. You may also load trucks as needed using a hand dolly. The material is typically 36 inches in diameter and up to 8 feet long, and you will be welding individual sections of the chute.
Responsibilities
Load sheets of steel into a Rolling Machine.
Adjust the machine based on the thickness of the steel.
Perform MIG welding on mild and stainless steel, typically 16 gauge thick.
Conduct horizontal and vertical welds.
Seam welds to connect metal chutes.
Utilize a hand grinder to smooth out welds.
Work from blueprints.
Set up and adjust the weld station per job requirements.
Perform light assembly on handles and hardware using hand and power tools.
Load trucks as needed using a hand dolly.
Essential Skills
Experience performing MIG welding.
Experience using fabrication equipment.
Experience measuring and reading blueprints.
Ability to set up and operate welding equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and calculate decimals and inches.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Fabrication and assembly experience.
Experience doing production or job shop work.
Hand and power tool experience.

Work Environment
The facility is a manufacturer of trash chutes, replacement doors, linen chutes, and tenant storage lockers. They also supply trash compactors, bike racks, corner racks, mailboxes, corner guards, and other architectural specialties. The facility has about 10 employees and is a union shop. The environment is considered dirtier/heavy industrial.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minooka, Illinois.
Available Shift & Pay
1st Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Pay: Starting at $19-20/hr depending on experience
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00
