UnitedHealth Group Sr. Business Solutions Analysis Consultant - Telecommuting in Minnetonka, Minnesota

The incumbent will work within UHC Clinical Business Enablement on large technology programs to improve and enable care for our members. Responsible for understanding how clinical tools support the clinical operations, conducting business analysis on the overall user experience, documenting workflow interfaces and assessing impacts to process management, support the user acceptance testing end to end process.

Primary Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility and accountability for analyzing the impact to the end to end clinical process of new technology development and/or deployment projects. Responsible for the analysis of the clinical user experience and workflow interfaces. You would serve as mentor and role model for Junior Business Analysts and support the end to end User Acceptance Processes.

  • Analyze and derive the clinical user experiences including clinical business rules and medical policies that impact process change management and technology requirement documentation in support of the Business Solutions strategic plans as determined by the Director of Clinical Business Solutions and program leadership

  • Lead group meetings, provide agendas, and follow up with meeting minutes

  • Become/serve as a business subject matter expert on clinical processes, clinical rules and medical policies as they impact technology programs

  • Define and update the project schedule to track/measure progress of the business solutioning process (e.g., status, milestones, tasks, deliverables)

  • Identify applicable technical and business stakeholders, using appropriate Stakeholder Analysis tools/approaches (e.g., RACI, SIPOC)

  • Conduct or manage current state analysis to gather current business processes, business rules and policies and contractual and regulatory constraints (i.e., "as-is"state)

  • Derive and document future state using appropriate tools/processes (e.g., "to-be" process maps) for business operations

  • Participate/drive the process of gathering of detailed business, functional and non-functional requirements

  • Define/adhere to approach for storing and updating business solutioning documentation (e.g., SharePoint, ADR, AC Agile, Quality Center)

  • Adhere to established project lifecycle standards/requirements (e.g., SDLC, UDP, RSA, ADR, OSAM requirements)

  • Gather/participate/document information needed for the definition of requirements (e.g., business use cases, user stories)

  • Provide scenarios for user acceptance testing for workflow interfaces and write/execute test scripts.

  • Determine and coordinate data requests for test scripts, perform script reviews and training to testers.

  • Troubleshoot defects and issues for the UAT and production support efforts.

  • Identify change impacts for clinical workflow interfaces across segments and functions

  • Identify and document change impacts for clinical business solutions across functions

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with both internal and external customers

  • Participate in a matrix organization by effectively maintaining and building relationships across

  • Business groups and internal/external customers

  • Support a team oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies, establishes collaboration and emphasizes quality and cost effectiveness

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years prior business solutions or business process documentation experience

  • Prior BA experience

  • Clinical background in provider organizations, operational or in technical / project role

  • 1+ years of experience in successfully working on large-scale technology projects -- including multiple integrated business areas or systems

  • 1+ years of experience working in Agile development environments / projects

  • Strong process and workflow engineering skills

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and listening skills

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership for resolving issues

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to grasp new ideas and products

  • Intermediate level MS Office computer skills (Excel, Word, and Visio)

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships

  • Ability to work well in cross-functional, matrixed teams

  • Action and detail oriented, focus on results not effort

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and tasks

  • Ability to effectively represent Clinical Solutions on business task forces/projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of HEDIS and how it's used to drive business growth and/or efficiencies

  • Broad understanding of NCQA

  • 1 year user acceptance testing experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Prior telecommuting experience

  • Understands the relationship of product design and constituent experience

  • Ability to participate in a large business solutions design program

  • Strong process and workflow engineering skills

  • Understands goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UHG

  • Strong healthcare knowledge, understands important trends

  • Knowledge of both payer and provider clinical operations

  • Ability to Map Processes and Procedures
