The Product and Member Experience team is heavily focused on using data to drive a deeper understanding of performance and delivering insights that fuel both product and member experience strategies. The Principal Data Scientist role leads the descriptive and predictive analytics tied to retention and member satisfaction efforts for DSNP and MA Individual products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Delivering all analytic initiatives and requests prioritized by key business partner

  • Design, measure, and analyze tests and provide strategic recommendations to stakeholders

  • Develop and implement effective/strategic solutions through exploration, analysis, and modeling of data

  • Develop predictive models as needed to support strategy development and campaign optimization

  • Analyze, review, forecast, trend, and model big and complex data

  • Independently driving these efforts and building relationships to accomplish objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Analytics and Data Science roles

  • 5+ years of Python experience

  • 4+ years of experience building and deploying ML models

  • 2+ years of experience in Databricks and/or Snowflake platforms

  • Proven experience in a senior Data Scientist role

  • Solid communication and presentation skills

  • Highly capable at statistical analysis, beyond descriptive statistics

  • Willing to work Eastern/Central Time Zone business hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with industry data, including marketing, member experience, and claims data

  • Health Insurance Industry experience

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
