BAE Systems Weapons Systems Test Engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

BAE Systems is seeking a Weapons Systems Test Engineer to work with design and project teams to develop, plan, and perform product evaluations. The products can be developmental, mature / fielded systems, and anything in between.

This is an on-site position with approximately 50% travel to support testing. Technicians and engineers work together in cross-functional teams where they are likely to develop close collegial relationships built on trust and integrity.

As a Test Engineer, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate weapons system and explosives testing activities.

  • Coordinate test site personnel schedules for Test and Field Support.

  • Provide engineering consultation to other technical groups based on test event results.

  • Document and monitor testing outcomes and establish steps to remedy problems.

  • Participate in customer meetings and reviews.

  • Ensure technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering concepts and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met.

  • Meet tight timelines without compromising quality or safety.

  • May prepare and/or review engineering drawings and/or specifications pertaining to weapons systems and explosives testing.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety and occupational health standards and site requirements.

  • Collaborate with technical experts in the propellant and ammunition handling and testing.

  • Operate in a highly dynamic team environment.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers and effectively communicate with them to resolve intricate technical problems.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2 years related experience.

  • May consider candidates who don't meet the above requirements for a more junior role.

  • Strong clear verbal and written communication aptitude to prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations and deliver them in written and oral form to customers and senior management.

  • Experience delivering assigned tasks with minimal guidance.

  • Willingness to accept field assignments and associated travel to test locations.

  • Experience successfully interfacing with other internal and external agencies.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Preferred bachelor s degree in mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and standards applicable to range, weapons systems, and munition safety.

  • Experience with Weapons Systems and Munitions Development and Test support.

  • Current Secret Clearance preferred.

  • Ammunition and Explosive material experience and accumulated training.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $75570 - $128480

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
