Test Engineer
Job Description
The Approvals Test Engineer is part of the Engineering Approvals Team and assists with the ongoing work required to obtain and maintain product compliance with the required industry regulations. This role will perform detailed product analysis, hands-on product testing, and test development to verify compliance. You will interface with regulatory agencies to create and prepare the submission materials to acquire certification.
Responsibilities
Interpret and apply applicable safety and/or performance standards.
Participate in sustaining and new product development teams to capture and document global hazardous location and performance requirements.
Develop test and certification strategies to meet those requirements.
Create test plans, oversee and interpret the test results in compliance with company and industry standards and policies.
Prepare technical justifications and technical documents to demonstrate compliance with applicable standards.
Interface directly with third-party certification agencies and manage projects with them.
Write and execute test protocols in accordance with approval standards and procedures, record results, and write test reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate degree in a related field required; BSEE or CS preferred
At least 2-3 years of experience in formal verification and/or validation product testing and requirements
At least 1 year of experience in standards-based testing, including environmental testing
Understand design requirements and apply that knowledge in the evaluation of a product via technical analysis and/or testing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly present data and articulate test results to agencies and internal working groups
Good organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at once
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar highly preferred
Experience with sustaining and new product development projects, and strong working knowledge of product development processes, particularly verification and validation testing
Previous experience in the design and certification of products used in hazardous locations, including performance certifications
Experience with hazardous location and/or performance standards (FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx)
Work Environment
This role requires working on-site. The position offers a long-term role with two weeks of PTO and holidays scheduled according to company policy.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00
