With over 70 years of history, we strive to create peak value for our employees, customers, and shareholders. www.apog.com Position Summary In this role, the incumbent will manage the full spectrum of regulatory environmental requirements, including federal, state, and local regulations with emphasis on air, water, waste management and water quality permitting, with a fundamental understanding of environmental management systems. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible to identify environmental risks and opportunities and ensure Apogee Enterprises remains in full compliance; and interact with facility personnel, company management, legal counsel, and other relevant internal stakeholders to communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance opportunities, act as a technical resource, and coordinate on key initiatives. The successful incumbent will be responsible for: Enterprise Environmental Compliance Strategy. Regulatory Compliance and External Response. Key Environmental Project Delivery. Support to Segment Operations Teams. Key Job Responsibilities Enterprise Environmental Compliance Strategy. Provide strategic direction and establish an enterprise strategy on federal and state environmental requirements. Develop a strategy to ensure we have environmental issues managed effectively. Proactively identify and manage risks, and effectively communicate with senior management regarding projects' permitting risks and progress against overall permitting timelines. Lead Enterprise environmental compliance audit program. Manage environmental due diligence projects, including ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Regulatory Compliance and External Response. Support site and enterprise incident investigations. Monitor development of legislative changes, analyze potential impacts on operations, and provide updates to the site personnel and leadership. Keep apprised of developments with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") rules and required climate-related disclosures for public companies and provide insights and updates to General Counsel and securities counsel. Work with securities counsel and General Counsel on environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives associated with the Company's ESG efforts. Provide QA/QC for documents vital to federal and state environmental review processes. Review consultant deliverables with critical attention to legal defensibility, accuracy, and clarity. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements that apply to Apogee businesses. Ensure team is tracking environmental commitments made through federal and state regulatory processes, coordinating closely with development, engineering, construction, and operations teams. Interact with regulatory agency personnel on major environmental issues. Key Environmental Project Delivery. Manage and/or support the on-time delivery of key environmental compliance projects across the Enterprise. Oversee execution of environmental strategic initiatives, including schedules, budgets, and staffing requirements to complete environmental permitting, risk management, and compliance. Oversee engagement and coordination with relevant federal and state agencies, as required for successful project development and operations. Ensure effective coordination across workstreams (e.g., technical, commercial). Ensure project records are complete and organized to demonstrate compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. Support to Segment Operation Teams. Support operations personnel in completing regulatory obligations and addressing permit requirements. Define and implement necessary training for facility operations personnel on environmental issues and regulations, including company policies. Provide support and specialized expertise to internal project teams including development, engineering, construction, and operations teams. Support/consult with local teams regarding on-going environmental/regulatory issues as they arise. Education/Skills Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field OR Master's Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial OR equivalent experience. Experience 10 years' experience in environmental management roles. Experience working with a range of federal and state regulatory agencies. Demonstrated environmental project management experience. Demonstrated supervisory experience including directing project teams and environmental contractors. Excellent communication skills (verbal and writing); ability to communicate professionally with appropriate detail. Must be willing to travel as needed to support needs of sites and projects.
