Position Purpose

The Senior Accountant will lead the accounting, reporting, and analysis of capital assets. In this role, you will work closely with other departments including Tax, Construction, Lease Administration, and Information Technology. Other responsibilities include daily and monthly accruals, accounting entries, reconciling of account balances, and other various responsibilities as assigned. #PIQ

Primary Responsibilities

  • Mantain fixed asset ledger for book and tax, analyze & reconcile GL accounts, track capital authorizations and spending, and investigate and resolve issues in a timely fashion.

  • Ensure all assets are accounted for in accordance with GAAP.

  • Own full cycle month and quarter end general ledger accounting close processes and all activities and related entries to ensure balances are correct.

  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles to ensure financial statements are fairly stated.

  • Assist in preparation of schedules for external (SEC) and tax reporting, support internal and external audit process and compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.

  • Develop and prepare monthly allocations; support the accounts receivable, treasury and tax departments as necessary.

  • Responsible for prepaid expense, use tax, property tax, statistical, and other entries as needed.

  • Independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks and work with multiple groups in a team environment

  • Use sound judgment and critical thinking as well as the ability to work well independently with less structured and more complex tasks is a must.

  • Lead periodic meetings with business partners on unique fixed asset accounting matters.

  • Provide assistance to senior accountant and lease analyst as needed.

  • Take on special projects as assigned, including serving as the lead company contact for third-party partners in the area of complex fixed asset tax matters.

Position Requirements

  • Requires 5+ years of prior experience in private or public accounting or similar position, knowledge of GAAP requirements necessary

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance and/or equivalent experience.

  • CPA, CMA preferred

  • Knowledge of systems required, knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion a plus

  • Advanced MS Excel and MS Access required. Oracle, Oracle reports, Essbase, Business Intelligence and other standard business software desired

  • Proven record of driving improvement activity, self motivated, detail oriented, positive attitude

  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communications skills are a must

  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams to achieve corporate objectives

  • Leads by example, possesses a strong work ethic, and strives for excellence
