Let's Redefine Possible SUMMARY: Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to provide accounting support for the general operations of Mortenson's real estate development and development-related real estate investment businesses. RESPONSIBILITIES: Accounting support for real estate development general accounting: Complete month-end financial close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries, analytical review of account activity, and research. Identify, pursue, and implement opportunities to streamline financial close processes. Prepare / review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and supporting documentation for assigned accounts. Assist in the development of enhanced reporting / analysis of data to support account reconciliations and related accounting activities. Maintain and monitor internal controls and identify / implement improvements and enhancements, where applicable. Document key processes related to duties. Maintain, monitor, and report on month-end close activities to ensure requirements are met completely and timely. Accounting support for real estate investments: Aggregate monthly financial reports received from property managers; review and suggest adjustments as needed. Prepare / review monthly financial reporting packages for joint venture partners, lenders, and Mortenson management team. Support completion of year end audits and tax returns, and review deliverables before they are finalized. Track and report monthly/quarterly/annual reporting covenant compliance with joint venture agreements and loan agreements. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in accounting 5+ years of accounting/finance experience Literacy in and deep understanding of financial statements and financial reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills General ledger software experience CPA and / or public accounting experience preferred but not required Knowledge of general accounting principles / processes and internal controls Real estate experience preferred but not required Professional, business-driven mentality with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, as well as customers and other external parties Strong written and oral communication / presentation skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with initiative to seek and implement innovative solutions Effective time-management skills Results-oriented delivery of appropriate products and services in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple departments in a collaborative manner Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to input and feedback This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. #LI-BS1 Mortenson is an EOE/Affirmative Action/M/F/Veteran/Disabled employer.
