Apply for Job Job ID361930 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8352R1 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Job Duties and Responsibilities: 80% Research and data analysis * Conduct complex, multi-step laboratory procedures based on written protocols or oral instruction from PI or other senior researchers, using molecular biological, microbiological, or genetic techniques on human fungal pathogens. * Select and adapt methods to meet specific research needs and to assist in development of new laboratory techniques. * Learn and employ a wide variety of experimental techniques including but not limited to fluorescence microscopy image acquisition and analysis, mouse studies, flow cytometry, DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, gel electrophoresis, tissue culture, transformation, immunofluorescence microscopy, and Western blot analyses. * Maintain a detailed notebook, tabulate and graph data, and interpret results on all procedures independently. * Read relevant scientific literature as suggested by the investigation and to identify relevant facts, techniques, and procedures from the primary literature. * Contribute to manuscript writing, generate figures, tables, and results related to their research, and write up the methods section and main results/findings related to their research 20% Laboratory Coordination * Involved in the operation and maintenance of equipment, developing and implementing protocols, data management and analysis, ensuring lab safety, ordering, and assistance in the preparation of data for manuscripts and grants. * Coordinate work schedules for execution of complex laboratory studies. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major in a biomedical science (Neuroscience, etc) or an equivalent combination of education and relevant research experience to equal four years. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Matlab. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of research experience. Previous experience working in a cell biology laboratory and with fluorescence microscopy experience. Experience with cell and molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, nucleic acid extraction, etc). Experience with mammalian tissue culture and mouse studies.
