The Regional Campus Assistant Dean will be responsible for the overall conduct and supervision of the undergraduate medical education (UME) program on the Duluth Regional Campus. This role will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with LCME accreditation standards, as well as all regional campus operations. The Regional Campus Assistant Dean will work closely with the Assistant Dean on continuous improvement of the Curriculum and ensure, comparability, scalability and operability of curricular innovations and improvements. The candidate plays a pivotal role in aligning academic and operational processes within Medical School and has primary responsibility for the implementation of the undergraduate medical education program, including Student Affairs, Admissions, Curriculum, Assessment and Program Evaluation.. The candidate will operationalize the mission of the Medical School and Duluth Regional Campus. This position will report to the Senior Associate Dean for UME, Dr. Jeff Chipman with a dotted line to the Duluth Regional Campus Dean, Dr. Kevin Diebel. Role will work collaboratively with both leaders to oversee Duluth's undergraduate medical education program. This role serves ex officio as a member of the Medical School Education Committee (MSEC), the Medical School Admissions Committee (MSAC), and the Medical School Scholastic Standing Committee (MSSSC). The candidate may have a faculty appointment in the Department of Family Medicine and Biobehavioral Health or the Department of Biomedical Sciences. This position will be primarily located at Duluth, Minnesota. Additionally, the position will involve hybrid and remote work components and scheduling including periodic work at the Univ of Minnesota Medical School at Minneapolis. Responsibilities Management: Matrixed supervision over Duluth Student Affairs advisors, Learner Development Director, Curriculum Managers, and Admissions Director. Operational Leadership: Responsible for regional campus curriculum operations, administration, and real-time troubleshooting. Regular collaboration and coordination with the University of Minnesota Medical School Assistant Dean for Curriculum. Responsible for regional campus student affairs operations, administration, real-time troubleshooting. Regular collaboration and coordination with the University of Minnesota Medical School Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. Responsible for regional campus assessment and evaluation operations, administration, and real-time troubleshooting. Regular collaboration and coordination with the University of Minnesota Medical School Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation. Executes local student assessment needs and ongoing programmatic improvement. Responsible for regional campus admissions operations, administration, real-time troubleshooting in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Medical School Admissions leadership. Collaborate with members of the Medical School leadership team to recommend, establish, implement and maintain policies and procedures to support an innovatively designed and highly competitive school of medicine. Ensure policies and procedures support the mission and objectives of the program and are in alignment with Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards. Serve as a contact and advocate for medical students on the Duluth Campus. Foster a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for students, including participation in the pla ning and monitoring of student academic progress, student wellbeing and mental health services, and career development. Maintain the professional technical standards required as part of the admissions and student progression policies and procedures including appropriately managing student records. Participate in and help coordinate the planning and execution of recurring local or campus wide academic events including: student orientation, white coat ceremony, student activites fair, community service projects, and other social events. Serve as the administrative contact for student groups and organizations on the Duluth Campus. Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion within the Duluth Campus. Qualifications Required: MD or PhD with professional education experience Some medical school leadership experience (clerkship directing, course directing, education committee leadership, etc) Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivated and strategic thinker.
