Fairview Health Services Psychiatric Associate - Adult Inpatient Mental Health in Minneapolis, Minnesota

MHealth Fairview Health Services is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit! The unit team consists of two attending psychiatrists, each with a team of residents and medical students that rotate; two case managers; one occupational therapists; RNs; psychiatric associates; and health unit coordinators.

Station 22 is a University of MN Psychiatry teaching unit and serves patients with primary thought disorders. Station 22 provides a unique work environment of collaborative teaching and learning that is exciting and allows for opportunities to learn and grow in this field. Unit has 16 beds.

This role is approved for 64 hours, every two weeks on the evening shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities Job Description

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:

  • Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.

  • Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.

  • Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.

  • Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.

Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.

  • Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.

  • Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.

Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:

  • Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.

  • Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.

  • Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field

  • Experience working in the mental health field
